Muhamad discussed the Air Quality & Noise Control UAE event in Abu Dhabi.

Potential information from event to be provided to update the MEAS website o Dubai Municipality concerns on Noise control and sound planning – Mapping Traffic and Buildings.

Ministry of Abu Dhabi presents and talked about Air Quality and suggest to make noise control in Abu Dhabi

Discussed Entertainment Noise. Matthew Carter to discuss progress on legislation in the next meeting

Kerim Caglar mentioned he was aware of a survey of noise complaints undertaken by Dubai Municipality in the last year. DM needs to be contacted for more details

2. Membership

Explanation of the Member registration process was provided and people directed to the website.

Discussion of Coordination between Contractors, Suppliers and Consultants on member types. Independent acoustic consultants should be separated from acoustic product suppliers / manufacturers. There should be no ‘dual membership’. General consensus of the group was made.

Some sort of policing of the behaviour of MEAS members was suggested. The latest code of ethics will be sent to the group for members to sign and return.

An additional member type was suggested – “Acoustic Contractors”. General consensus was made to implement this.

3. Website

A brief overview of the current status of the website was provided by Jon Lee.

The website has proven useful in attracting new members and is starting to formalise a registration process for membership.

JL requested that members with ideas and suggestions for content for the website contact him to help promote the online presence of MEAS.

MEAS LinkedIn page was discussed, Frederic to update on progress implementing this next meeting. An MEAS Facebook page was discounted.

More articles about Noise were recommended for the website, including excerpts from 7days UAE where Frederic / Eddie have seen regular letters of noise complaint from readers. -

The use of the MEAS Logo (after Chamber of commerce registration) – was requested to be used on members letter heads and websites. No general consensus.

4. Future Events

Sreenivas from SIDERSISE mentioned there will be a Façade Engineering event in Dubai in March 2016 and as sponsor to this event he asked to send email notification to MEAS group. JL to organise. -

Andrew Peplow has offered the potential to host the next meeting (dependent on availability of rooms @ Zayed Uni) -
